The Running Playlist that Helps Me Stay Sober

There is strength and joy to be found in music. It is uplifting in times of sorrow, helps to set the festive tone of a party and assists us with expressing feelings.

The right music helps us have a great workout, and elevates our mood. In my case, music helps me through periods of self-doubt (and cravings) and in the long run (pun intended) helps me to maintain my sobriety.

There are several articles on the Internet which list popular songs about addiction. This is not one of those lists. Instead, it is a list of the uplifting songs that help me to keep my mindset on the right track.

Posting this playlist for you, I am really letting my nerd flag fly! Enjoy!

You can do a lot in a lifetime If you don't burn out too fast You can make the most of the distance First you need endurance First you've got to last

Set me on fire Set me on, set me on fire

Whoa-oh, whoa,

I'm still alive I'm still a, I'm still alive

Bet you didn't think that I'd come back to life

I'm gonna put this dream in motion I Never let nothing stand in my way When the going gets touch The tough get going

I see my life like a train with a one-way track I've made mistakes, and I couldn't take 'em back And I've been runnin' 'round in circles 'til I'm dizzy, I can't lie But every night I go to sleep's a day that I survive

With nothing to show, just sweat form my soul My heart's on the line and I'm dying to go (dying to go) Look at us now, gonna make it somehow

Whip, whip Run me like a racehorse Pull me like a ripcord Break me down and build me up

Don't look back A new day is breakin' It's been too long since I felt this way I don't mind where I get taken The road is callin' Today is the day

Burning up don't know just how far that I can go Soon be home only just a few miles down the road And I can make it, I know I can You broke the boy in me, but you won't break the man

So why don't I understand What's trippin' me up It used to be a simple thing I can't hold on, I can't return Time to let go, start to live and learn

I believe, I believe We can write our story I believe, I believe We can be an army

I am down but I am far from over. Give me somethin' I need it all 'cause I am runnin' over. Back in the race I'm movin' in 'cause I am getting closer. I'm diggin' in I want it more than anything I've wanted.

Like when I close my eyes and don't even care if anyone sees me dancing Like I can fly, and don't even think of touching the ground Like a heartbeat skip, like an open page Like a one way trip on an aeroplane It's the way that I feel when I'm with you, brand new

You made me a, you made me a believer, believer (Pain, pain) You break me down, you built me up, believer, believer (Pain) I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain My life, my love, my drive, it came from (Pain) You made me a, you made me a believer, believer

So light em up up up, light em up up up, light em up up up, I'm on fire So light em up up up, light em up up up, light em up up up, I'm on fire

If I just breathe Let it fill the space between I'll know everything is alright Breathe Every little piece of me You'll see Everything is alright If I just breathe

Take your passion And make it happen Pictures come alive You can dance right through your life

I'm wide awake and so alive Ringing like a bell Tell me this is paradise And not someplace I fell Cause I keep on fallin' down

My heart bleeds adrenaline The fire I breathe is where I live Say my name, incredible Say my name, an animal One life to live I never give up, I never give in

'Cause it makes me that much stronger Makes me work a little bit harder It makes me that much wiser So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster Made my skin a little bit thicker Makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter

Blood, sweat, I'll break my bones (bang bang, bang, bang) Till all my scars bleed golden My name's forever known (bang bang, bang bang, bang bang, won't stop till we're legend) Bang, bang, won't stop till we're legend
